Loimwe

Loimwe

Loimwe, 38 km from Kyaing Tong, used to be the headquarters of the British District Commissioner during the colonial period. This 'hill station' features a number of old colonial buildings and a century-old Catholic church. The main attraction is the scenery on the ascent to Loimwe, as you pass through forests, terraced rice fields and past a lake.

Mway Taw Kat Ku Pagoda

Mway Taw Kat Ku Pagoda

Kakku Pagoda is thought to have been built in the 16th century but was only recently uncovered after being hidden for centuries in the wooded hills south of the town of Taunggyi. The pagoda consists of about one square kilometer of land crammed with more than 2000 stupas. It can be reached via Taunggyi or during dry season, you can make a trekking tour directly over the mountains from Inle Lake.
