Kandawgyi Park & Lake

Kandawgyi Lake is a major attraction in Yangoners. People frequent this place to escape the madness of the city. The nearby Shwedagon Pagoda can be seen from the grounds of Kandawgi Park. There are a few restaurants inside the park and a short getaway to the park with ice-cold Myanmar beers during the hot summer is something you shouldn't miss. The best time to visit is during sunset. Sule Pagoda

Sule Pagoda

One of the best way to experience Yangon and how the former Captial is, and how it is changing can be seen all around Sule Pagoda. It is located in the heart of downtown. If you try to “google-image” Yangon, chances are that the picture of Sule Pagoda will occupy 50% of all images. At night it looks very beautiful as it is lit up. The fact that it is in the middle of a roundabout makes it good for photographs.

Yangon Circular Train

Yangon Circular Train

It’s a great way to see a slice of local Myanmar life. The trains are not the cleanest or most comfortable but they are unforgettable and memorable. It’s a short but fascinating train voyage, as the rickety old diesel drawn carriages jolt and sway there way along the old and barely functional narrow gauge rails. Slowly but surely you will circumference the city, but for those that enjoy the finer things in life. You’re going to be out of luck on this particular journey.
